my story

My name is Daniel Beach, and I have been working in art since I was about 6 years old.  Born and raised in Shreveport, LA, I worked in many different mediums.  Color pencil, acrylic, water color, chalk pastel, and charcoals are some of my favorites, but nothing quite competes with oils.  I'm self taught for the most part and blessed with the help of strong mentors and a supportive family.  I took up Oil Painting professionally in 2001 shortly after my dad passed away.  I use art to capture my ideas and thoughts, what I see visually, and also what I feel.  I try to remain vague enough to allow for the viewer to also glean what they will from my work without feeling forced into it.  Ideally, it should be a conversation between the viewer and myself.

After attending Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport, LA, I continued my education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.  I studied Architecture with a strong background in technical drawing, drafting, and AutoCAD rendering.  I have been showcased in W. J. Morrill Gallery in Dallas and most recently in Blue Moon Gallery in Hendersonville, NC.  I have curated monthly shows featuring my work as well as other local artists in Baton Rouge, and have competed in local, state, and national contests.

I currently work and live in Asheville, NC, in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.  One of th most beautiful places I've ever been.
